We arrived in Rome August 8 and got off the train. We walked to the hotel and got checked in then went to explore the city. First we went to the Trevi fountain. Max and I said, “What if we had that for a swimming pool!” Mom and I snuck into a store and bought Max a toy moped and pencil for his birthday (he loved it). We went back to the hotel and relaxed in the AC then went back out and had some food. I had spaghetti bolognese. We watched some soccer and then went to bed.
The next day was August 9, Max’s birthday! Dad got up early and bought stuff for breakfast. Max opened his presents and then we were off for another day in Rome. We went to one of the parks and rented a four-seater bike. The first ones chain came off and one of the two second ones wasn’t charged but we still had fun (the parks in Italy are nothing like the parks in Paris). It was a hot day so we went back to the hotel and watched a movie. Then we took a bus to the colosseum. It was awesome to think that 2,000 years ago there were gladiator fights in the arena. After that we walked to a fancy dinner restaurant that had the best carbonara in Rome. I got pasta with confit tomatoes. It was really good. We left Rome the next day and we’re off to Salerno!
A beautiful and privileged way to celebrate a birthday!
Happy Birthday Max 🎂
