Things I Learned About Wine in Bordeaux

On Friday morning Mom, Max and I all went to a wine museum in Bordeaux. It was a really cool experience for me because you could smell, listen, taste, and touch all things about wine. When we got there we went up a staircase and scanned our tickets to go in. We each got a headset and a phone thingy to listen to all the videos and find our way through the museum. The part I really liked about the museum is that you could smell all sorts of things and think about which one you smell in wine.

Four things I learnt about wine at the museum were:

  • You put the barrel over a fire to bend it into shape
  • All the different smells that you can find in wine, like horse sweat
  • The smell of the wine when it was fermenting
  • That there are so many different varieties of wine like Riesling

It was also really fun to taste the grape juice that they gave you at the top of the interesting-shaped building. I’m really glad I went because I wouldn’t know everything I know about wine now!

  1. Lilia, so fun for you to learn and understand more about wine making. Horse sweat I have not learned to appreciate.
